This guide is for all aspiring actors, crew and those currently active in the movie / media production industry. This is to help you navigate the posts and ads on social media, seeking people for movie productions. Please review and be safe when approaching various production groups / teams and businesses. Important Safety Information for all Actors / Crew

Please remember to embark on your acting / film making / media production journey safely, not compromising who you are or what you believe in, just to "get to the next step."

Be wary of any and all local / indie or even "Hollywood" movie productions posting via social media about "The next big thing", and posts using BIG LOUD CAPITALIZED WORDS to sell fluff.

Major studios and most real productions go through talent agencies and/or supply at least three (3) sources of contact:

✅️ Phone Number
✅️ Email
✅️ Website / Physical Office Address

Tips to help you be safe and confident in your creative endeavors:

➡️ Verify information with state business registration. (Ex: Michigan is LARA)

➡️ Verify the full name of the production and/or contact for the production. (Research on Google, Facebook and Instagram.) If it seems sketchy, run.

➡️ IMDB is questionable as anyone can essentially post to it now days. Use best judgement.

➡️ Take lots of notes during the interview process. 

➡️ Meet only in busy public places or virtually online. (Any last minute re-direction, hesitate, assess and decide whether or not to meet.) Let a trusted friend or family member know where you are going and what you are doing. Check in with them often.

➡️ Get everything discussed for the project in writing and know what you are agreeing to. ALWAYS get agreed to information in writing for both parties.

➡️ Do not "pay to play" unless you are a contributor or investor. Ask for letters and contracts prior to. Consult with an attorney or CPA prior to making any potential investments.

➡️ Report any and all suspicious activities to local authorities, if it appears that laws are being broken. Use your best judgement.

➡️ ALWAYS research and ask questions with someone you know and trust prior to pursuing a project / production.
