Matthew Davenport is 33 years old—and living in a retirement home.

A former minor league hockey player sidelined by a traumatic head injury, Matthew has found an unexpected sense of peace among the elderly residents who’ve become his surrogate family. Life inside the quiet walls of "The Home" may be unconventional for someone his age, but for Matthew, it’s the only place that’s ever truly felt like home.

That is, until one of his awkward attempts at dating from the outside world creates a stir in the otherwise peaceful community. The disruption catches the attention of Dr. Norman Fick, the facility’s newly installed director, who sees an opportunity: if he can remove Matthew and reclaim the scenic, historic founder's mansion where Matthew lives, he can make room for greater expansion.

To nudge Matthew toward "independence," Dr. Fick brings in a behavioral therapist named Adeline, or Aida for short. Her unconventional approach? Pair Matthew with a spirited service dog named Chief. The bond is instant. Matthew and Chief become inseparable—and a constant thorn in Dr. Fick’s side as they stir up harmless mischief, determined to preserve the life Matthew loves.

As the seasons shift, Matthew finds meaning in documenting the forgotten stories of the elderly around him—people who, like him, once lived full lives and now wrestle with loneliness and memory. But when one of his closest friends at the home passes away, something changes. Grief becomes a catalyst. Matthew begins to embrace therapy, face his fears, and consider what life might look like outside the home’s walls.

In the process, he and Aida grow closer, their bond deepening into something real as she sees Matthew for who he trulys is. Together, they come to realize that moving forward doesn’t mean letting go—it means taking the best of where you’ve been and carrying it with you. And that, sometimes, the next chapter is even more beautiful than the last.

In the United States, approximately 500,000 Service Dogs empower individuals, while 27% of adults face disabilities. Although only 10,000 Guide Dog teams currently serve, the impact is immense. Training a Service Dog requires dedication, taking 1-2 years, and candidates may wait 1-5 years.

The cost can exceed $25,000 on up,but the reward is invaluable. Unfortunately, over half of Assistance Dog candidates don't complete training. Raising awareness about Service Dog training is crucial, as these canine guardians enable individuals with disabilities to reclaim their lives.

Good Harbor Blue and Apache Acres K-9 Training Facility are bring this awareness to the community to help make a difference in the lives of those who need the help of a four legged Guardian Angels.

Wholesome Comedy/Drama

20250628_173906

Talk about a balancing act of real life meeting comedy, drama and romance in a wholesome movie for general audiences. With new and returning Michigan talent, the team comes together once again to create a new inspiring movie that is fun, funny and full of hope!

Story, Cast and Crew

20250628_193525

By October 1st, 2025, this movie entered the post-production editing phase. We had an wonderful opportunity to film all summer long with talent throughout the mid-Michigan and greater Michigan region to complete this project. This is a fun movie about hope and purpose.

Here are a few fun facts!

✅ Over 120 individuals worked on this movie from May 2025 - September 2025.

✅ The amount of footage captured was almost 3 times the size of our first motion picture "Red's Shadow" (2022).

✅ This movie is Rynn Rosa's first movie introduction as an actor.

✅ Little Chief (Service Dog Actor) is the most experienced actor on set next to Chris Ewing. Little Chief has been in major commercials, Hallmark movies and short films!

✅ This is the second and final time filming at the iconic location in Saginaw, MI known as The Home.

✅ The average amount of scene takes is 3. Our team is quite talented!

✅ The OHL hockey team, The Saginaw Spirit allowed us the opportunity to use their name and logo in the movie. To our knowledge at this time, it is the first OHL team logo to be in a modern day independent motion picture.

✅ Multiple (amazing!) local businesses stepped in to assist with support of the movie.

All About Community

Our goal is to create wholesome independent movies with purpose. We aim to utilize movie projects to highlight community, encourage growth in creativity through mentoring, promote small business, and share positive, uplifting stories for general audiences to enjoy for years to come.

Teaming Up with the Saginaw Spirit

The 2024 Memorial Cup Champions, OHL hockey team, the Saginaw Spirit have graciously allowed us to use their name / logo in this movie as tribute to the wonderful location of Saginaw, Michigan. The people and communities in Saginaw have been a blessing to work with this team on this production with an entire cast, crew and extras topping almost 85 individuals. We're excited to have the Saginaw Spirit be a part of this memorable movie!
